Robert Musil (German: or [ˈmuːsɪl]; 6 November 1880 – 15 April 1942) was an Austrian writer.His unfinished novel The Man Without Qualities (German: Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften) is generally considered to be one of the most important and influential modernist novels. philosopher with the scientific bent who was to turn artist and become the creator of the Man Without Qualities. The classical chromatometer, invented by Newton, is that which, containing all the colours of the spectrum, when it revolves fast enough turns white, so representing the unbroken beam of light. It is in keeping with the nature of this Geist that the protagonist of Musil’s novel is a “man without qualities,” for himself as well as the narrator.
